The Different Types Of Swimming Pool Heating

Adding a heater to your swimming pool is a great way to enjoy the extreme winter. However, when choosing pool heaters, you should consider the different types available. You can choose from gas, electric element heaters, heat pumps, and solar heaters for pools. These types provide heat to the water, so you can enjoy swimming even on colder days.

Gas heaters:

Gas pool heaters work by heating the water inside your pool using energy from burning natural gas. These heaters work by producing enough heat to raise one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit. You can choose a smaller gas heater for a mild climate or a larger one to accommodate seasonal changes in outdoor air temperature. The gas heater will usually sit next to your pool and must be positioned near the water filtration system and pool pump. They also require a connection to a propane tank. As a result, you will need plenty of space and access to power for them.

Heat pump:

Consider a heat pump if you’re looking for a low-cost way to keep your swimming pool warm during the cooler months. These units draw heat from the surrounding air and transfer it to the water. They run on electricity and function similarly to a home air conditioner. Heat pumps are most effective at keeping swimming pools comfortable in the cooler months but are not ideal for hot tubs.

Solar heaters:

Solar heaters for swimming pools can be installed in swimming pools to raise the temperature of the water up to five degrees. To increase heating power, you can install more panels. Moreover, you can adjust the angle of the panels to get maximum sun exposure. A 30-inch by 30-inch panel can raise the temperature of a small pool by 5 degrees.

Solar collectors can also be installed in pools to lower the water temperature. This allows the water to circulate during the evening hours. You can install a secondary pipe system to maintain a constant temperature.

Electric heaters:

Electric element heaters for swimming pools are an excellent way to heat your swimming pool. They are available in various sizes and come with various features. Many models come with a thermostat to help regulate the temperature of your pool. They also have a flow switch and an overheating cutout to prevent the elements from overheating.
